Histon moved up to second in the Blue Square Premier after an impressive victory at Ebbsfleet.
The visitors took the lead in first-half injury time thanks to an audacious overhead kick from Damien Reeves.
Daniel Wright came close to extending the lead after 73 minutes but he fired over from an acute angle.
The hosts nearly equalised through Michael Gash, but had Darius Charles sent off for a second bookable offence amid a late flurry of yellow cards.
