I stayed for Scolari - Drogba

Didier Drogba Ivory Coast captain Didier Drogba has admitted Luiz Felipe Scolari persuaded him to stay at Chelsea.

The striker was considering a move away from the English club in the close season.

"I spoke with him [Scolari] and he showed he wanted me to stay and that's what finally convinced me," Drogba told a British Sunday newspaper.

"It's true that it was 50/50 as to whether I would stay but I still think I have something to prove."

Having worked with the Brazilian for nearly three months now, Drogba has likened Scolari to his former Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho, who left the club a year ago.

"Scolari is one of those coaches who is very close to the players. His style is similar to Mourinho's," said Drogba.

"I like this type of coach. I feel much more comfortable with this style of management."
