Everton fail to capture Obinna

Victor Obinna Nsofor in action at the Olympics

Everton have failed to secure a work permit for the Nigerian Olympic star Victor Obinna Nsofor.

The English Premier League side had hoped to take Obinna Nsofor on loan from Italian club Inter Milan.

The 21-year-old did not meet the standard requirements for a work permit to be given by the UK authorities, so a special hearing had been convened.

The striker moved to from Chievo Verona to Italian rivals Inter Milan, who were considering loaning him straight away.

He was one of the stars of the recent Olympic football tournament, in which Nigeria won silver.

Obinna Nsofor told the BBC after the Olympic final defeat to Argentina that he wanted to move from Chievo, having helped them return to Serie A.

He said then that he wanted to play in the European Champions League.
