Commission urges Pfister sacking

Otto Pfister

A commission set up by the Cameroon Football Federation (Fecafoot) has called for the sacking of Otto Pfister as the coach of the Indomitable Lions.

The commission, headed by legend Roger Milla, was formed to review the performance of Cameroon at the African Cup of Nations in January.

Despite finishing second at the event in Ghana, the Milla Commission says the German is not competent.

The report is unlikely to be approved by the Sports Minister Augustin Edjoa.

The Ministry of Sports recruited Pfister in November against to the wishes of Fecafoot.

Edjoa has already praised the work of the German after helping the country pick up the silver medal at the Nations Cup.

But the Milla Commission's report has been approved by the general assembly of Fecafoot, increasing the pressure for Pfister to be sacked.

The 60-year-old was appointed by the Ministry of Sport even though he finished tenth in an interview to select a replacement for Dutchman Arie Haan.

The joint selection committee was set up by the Ministry of Sports and Fecafoot proposed Horst Koppel but he was ignored by Edjoa.

Pfister was in charge of the Togo national team at the 2006 World Cup in Germany.

The two-time Saudi Arabia coach has worked in African football for 25 years, with spells in Zaire, Tunisia, Ghana and Egypt.
