Egypt recall Ghaly

Hossam Ghaly

England-based midfielder Hossam Ghaly is set for a return to Egypt's national team for the first time in a year.

The Tottenham Hotspur player has been included in a 23-man squad for the African Nations Cup qualifier against Botswana in Gaborone on Saturday.

Ghaly has not played for Egypt for the last 12 months, making his last appearance in a World Cup qualifier in Cameroon last October.

He was dropped ahead of his country's success in January's Nations Cup finals by coach Hassan Shehata but is a surprising recall despite just two starts for his English Premier League club this season.

Ghaly is one of seven changes to the squad that beat Burundi 4-1 in Egypt's first qualifying match for the 2008 finals in Cairo last month.
