Drogba in transfer speculation

Didier Drogba Ivory Coast striker Didier Drogba has sparked new speculations of a possible transfer to Italy.

The Chelsea player was spotted talking to AC Milan vice-president Adriano Galliano in a Milan restaurant on Monday.

Drogba, who scored in Chelsea's 2-0 Premiership win at Blackburn, is on holiday in Italy, as his national side have no game in this weekend's African Cup of Nations qualifiers.

Italian newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport said Galliani, who reportedly spoke with Drogba for 15 minutes, may be prepared to table a bid of $38.4 million for the powerful 28-year-old forward.

Milan reluctantly sold Andriy Shevchenko to Chelsea last month and will start the new Serie A season with an eight-point deficit.

They were found guilty of match-fixing during the 2004-05 campaign.

Drogba signed for Chelsea for $45.6 million in July 2004 from Marseilles and scored 16 goals in 40 games in his debut season, helping them to their first league title for 50 years.

He also ended up as the top provider of goals in the Premiership last season, with 11 assists as Chelsea retained their title.

But Drogba had hinted that he might leave the Premiership due to what he considered as unfair treatment by the English media.
