African leagues round-up: Sept 3-8


Cameroon

Tonnerre of Yaounde

Yaounde clubs Canon and Tonnerre are in serious trouble, as both languish at the bottom of the eight-team Super League.

Canon sank to last place after a 2-0 home loss to league leaders Racing Bafoussam. Edwin Ifeanyi and Joel Babanda scored in each half.

The win puts Bafoussam in the lead with 15 points.

Canon, yet to score a goal in the Super League, have just three points from three games, while seventh-placed Tonnerre are one point ahead even though they lost 3-1 to titleholders Cotonsport Garoua.

Cotonsport are third with 14 points, equal with Union Douala, who drew 0-0 with Bamboutos.


Nigeria

With three games remaining in the Premier League, Dolphins are holding onto a two-point lead over champions Enyimba.

Dolphins failed to extend their lead after losing 1-0 to Lobi Stars, allowing Enyimba to close the gap after beating Julius Berger 2-1.

Third-placed Iwuanyanwu Nationale, with 56 points, are within range of the league crown after a slim 1-0 win over NPA.

But the league standings could change dramatically this weekend. as Nationale host Dolphins, while Enyimba take on mid-table side El Kanemi Warriors.


Angola

Sonangol Namibe will meet Primeiro Agosto in the Cup final on 11 November in Luanda.

Sonangol defeated the Cup holders Inter Clube 1-0 in Tuesday's semi-final.

Totó scored the only goal of the game in the 28th minute from a cross.

Primeiro Agosto reached the final after beating Desportivo Huila by the same score.
