Bodmin go to the top of the SWPL

Football

South West Peninsula League champions Bodmin Town are on top of the league for the first time this season after winning 4-1 at Liskeard Athletic.

Danny O'Hagan, Mark Berry, Karl Turner and Huw Morgan got the goals for the Priory Park side as they went a point clear on Friday night.

And they kept that lead after Saturday's games which saw second placed Buckland Athletic lose again.

They went down 3-0 at home to Tavistock, their third successive loss.

Glynn Hobbs got a first-half goal for Tavistock before Mike Arscott and Chris Menhennick scored in the second period to see them come away from Homers Heath with all three points.

Ivybridge Town dropped a place from third to fourth after going down to fifth-placed Plymouth Parkway 6-0. Parkway scored all six in the second half Chris Wright scoring two goals.

The Bridgers' loss was Dartmouth's gain as they moved back up to third place after a 4-1 win at home to St Blazey where John Rimmer scored two for the Darts.

Launceston stay in sixth place after a 2-2 draw at Torpoint Athletic, while Falmouth Town climbed to fourth-from-bottom after a 3-2 win at home to Clyst Rovers.

Heavy rain meant the games between Cullompton Rangers and Wadebridge Town, Holsworthy and Newton Abbot Spurs and Elburton Villa's trip to Witheridge were all postponed.
