Ivybridge Town move top of SWPL

Football

Ivybridge Town are top of the South West Peninsula League after a 6-2 win at home to Clyst Rovers.

Ryan Fice got a hat-trick for Town while Jason Benyon, David Woodfield and Martyn Sullivan all scored once.

Buckland Athletic could have gone top with a win over Plymouth Parkway, but will be happy to have come away with a point after their 3-3 draw.

Buckland were 3-1 down with 15 minutes to go before Grant Leslie and Roger Bonaparte got them back on terms.

Buckland are third on 13 points, the same as Ivybridge and second-placed Dartmouth, who did not play.

Parkway are fourth on 10 points, ahead of fifth-placed Torpoint Athletic.

Torpoint could have moved into fourth but lost 3-1 at home to Newton Abbot Spurs as Nick Edmunds' hat-trick saw all three points go back to Devon.

The other game of the day saw second from bottom Elburton Villa lose their fourth consecutive game as they went down 1-0 at home to sixth-placed Cullompton Rangers after Tim Whiteoak scored the only goal of the game.

Holsworthy are still bottom after their game at home to Tavistock was postponed, as was Witheridge's match at home to Falmouth Town.
