Millwall 0-1 Colchester

David Perkins enjoyed a dream debut as Colchester beat Millwall in the first round of the Johnstone's Paint Trophy at the New Den on Tuesday.

Perkins looked excellent in midfield, and scored the only goal of the game after eight minutes when he reacted quickly to fire in off the crossbar.

Millwall struggled to create chances, but came agonisingly close when Karl Moore's free-kick hit the bar.

The home side offered more after the break but failed to find an equaliser.
