Phillips wins Championship award

Kevin Phillips Veteran West Bromwich Albion striker Kevin Phillips was named Championship player of the year at the third Football League Awards in London.

The 34-year-old, this season's top scorer in the Championship, pipped Charlton's Andy Gray and Michael Kightly of Wolves to the title.

Leeds striker Jermaine Beckford was named League One player of the year and also won the goal of the year award.

MK Dons midfielder Keith Andrews picked up the League Two player prize.

It was announced the day before the ceremony that former England captain Jimmy Armfield, who has also been a respected BBC analyst since 1978, would be receiving the prestigious Outstanding Contribution honour.

Armfield was given a standing ovation by the 800 guests at the ceremony.

League Two Player of the Year - Keith Andrews (MK Dons)

Young Player of the Year - Michael Kightly (Wolves)

Championship Apprentice Award - Mark Beevers (Sheff Wed)

League One Apprentice Award - Daniel Broadbent (Huddersfield Town)

League Two Apprentice Award - Ryan Bennett (Grimsby Town)

Goal of the Year - Jermaine Beckford (Scunthorpe United, while on loan from Leeds United)

Community Club of the Year - Watford

Fan of the Year - Paul Samrah (Brighton)

Championship Best Community Initiative - Charlton

League One Best Community Initiative - Brighton

League Two Best Community Initiative - Notts County

Best Fan Marketing Campaign - Bradford

Best Matchday Programme - Bristol City

Championship Family Club of the Year - Norwich

League One Family Club of the Year - Huddersfield Town

League Two Family Club of the Year - Wycombe Wanderers

Outstanding Contribution to League Football - Jimmy Armfield
