Dons delight at Brewster capture

Aberdeen's Craig Brewster Aberdeen manager Jimmy Calderwood is happy to have signed up former Dundee United manager Craig Brewster.

The 40-year-old ex-Dunfermline, Hibs and Inverness striker has agreed a deal until the end of the season.

"Craig looked great in training," Calderwood told the club website. "He's the ultimate professional and will bring many qualities to AFC.

"All the younger players will benefit from having him around as he is great at communicating and coaching."

Kilmarnock and St Mirren were also interested in signing the veteran free agent, before Brewster chose to sign for the Pittodrie outfit.

"I was in the fortunate position of being 40 years of age and having more offers than I've ever had!," he said.

"But when Jimmy made contact I was delighted.

"I know him, he knows me from our Dunfermline days, so it's great to come up here."

Brewster, who also managed Inverness, had an unsuccessful spell in charge at United from January to October, before being replaced by Craig Levein.

And he will be eligible to make his Dons debut from 2 January, when they visit Hibs at Easter Road.

Meanwhile, the Dons match against third placed Rangers on Saturday is a sell-out with all 22,100 tickets being sold.
