Italy international forward Christian Vieri is to move from AC Milan to French league club Monaco.
The 32-year-old will sign a one-and-a-half-year deal on Tuesday after undergoing a medical in Monaco, the clubs said.
Vieri has made little impression since joining Milan from city rivals Inter and recently expressed concerns over his place in the Italy squad.
He was linked to several Premiership clubs, including Spurs and Newcastle.
Vieri is under contract with the Rossoneri until 2007 but has fallen down the pecking order behind Andriy Shevchenko and Alberto Gilardino.
He has scored only twice since joining Milan in the summer.
With the World Cup looming, Vieri is keen to move in search of playing time to boost his chances of making Marcello Lippi's Italy squad.
AC Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani said: "I'm sorry he's gone because I remain convinced that he still could have done very well at Milan but I understand his decision, in this World Cup year."
Monaco coach Francesco Guidolin said: "It is an excellent thing for me because he is a target man and the other strikers are more support players.
"He was on the list of players I wanted. I will speak to him immediately about what I expect of him but what will be best is if he can play and be ready quickly."
Lippi told Italian TV station Rai on Sunday: "This is a special year, if you're not playing at all it's only right to go to another team.
"I would be happy for Vieri just as I was for (Antonio) Cassano (who moved to Real Madrid at the weekend). Playing in Monaco, Madrid or Palermo doesn't make much difference."
