Republic of Ireland manager Mick McCarthy was full of praise for his side despite throwing away a two-goal lead at home to Croatia.
Davor Suker scored a stoppage time penalty to force a 2-2 draw at Lansdowne Road.
But boss McCarthy was happy enough, admitting nine second half subtitutions had diluted his side.
The visitors scored twice in the last 10 minutes to deny Ireland the win after Damien Duff and Clinton Morrison, on his debut, scored either side of half-time.
Davor Vugrinec pulled a goal back after 80 minutes and then Suker converted from the spot after John O'Shea had handled.
The Republic have now gone 13 games unbeaten.
"The end was the only disappointing bit," admitted McCarthy.
"We had some fantastic performances.
"Clinton Morrison got his goal. It was a difficult game for him to come on and play in and not many players score on their international debut.
"Overall there were more good things than bad in that performance.
"There was definitely more to be happy about.
"If anyone is to blame, it is me. I diluted the team."
McCarthy was pleased with forwards Duff and Robbie Keane and admitted they would be in contention even when Niall Quinn returns from injury.
"I would not want to play against those two lads at the moment," said McCarthy.
"I think we are in very healthy shape. If we can get players back we will be better for it."
Morrison marked his debut with a tap-in goal and it helped to calm the Crystal Palace striker down.
"I have been nervous all week but I knew as soon as I came to the pitch I would score," said Morrison.
"I was pleased to get on the pitch and play with such great players.
"I enjoyed myself and I learned a lot. I am going to take a lot back to Palace."
