Aussie duo earn World Cup recalls

Julia Price

Australia have recalled wicket-keeper Julia Price and all-rounder Louise Broadfoot for the Women's World Cup in South Africa next month.

Price, 33, returns in place of Leonie Coleman after a two-year absence, while Broadfoot, 26, last played for her country against Ireland in July 2001.

The four-time winners will play three warm-up games against holders New Zealand in Perth before the tournament.

Australia lost the 2000 final to the White Ferns in Lincoln by four runs.

Chairperson of selectors Margaret Jennings said: "Julia replaces Leonie based on her excellent keeping and consistent batting performances throughout the National Cricket League this year.

"Lou returns after some good performances for Victoria. Both these inclusions will strengthen the squad."

Australia squad: B Clark (capt), K Rolton, A Blackwell, K Blackwell, L Broadfoot, C Fitzpatrick, J Hayes, M Jones, L Keightley, S Nitschke, J Price (wkt), C Smith, L Sthalekar, E Twining.
