Bangladesh coach Dav Whatmore admits they face a massive task in their first home Test series against Australia.
They caused a massive upset when they beat the World Cup holders in Cardiff during last year's tour to England.
But the odds are firmly on Australia completing a clean sweep of the two Tests and three one-day internationals during next month's series.
"The number one ranked team is playing the number 10 ranked team. That's the reality," said Whatmore.
Bangladesh recently beat Kenya 4-0 in a one-day series but taking on Australia represents a huge step up in class.
"We'll just be trying to go out there and show we be competitive. We'll be trying very, very hard - there's no question about that.
"Australia are on top of their game. They've done very well against South Africa in the Test matches and were very unlucky to lose the one-dayers, extremely unlucky after a score of 400 runs (in the last match)," Whatmore told BBC World Service Sport.
One possible advantage for Bangladesh is that Ricky Ponting's side will not have much time to acclimatise before the first Test.
It begins in Dhaka on 9 April, just five days after they wrap up their current series in South Africa.
