Injured Siddle out of one-dayers

Peter Siddle

Australia's Peter Siddle will miss the last three games of the one-day series against India with a side injury.

Paceman Siddle will be sent home after being injured in the series-levelling 24-run win on Monday, in which he bowled just five overs.

Fellow bowlers Brett Lee and James Hopes have already returned home with injuries and veteran Nathan Bracken was ruled out before the series even began.

Cricket Australia has yet to name a replacement for Siddle.

"Peter's injury does not appear to be a serious problem but it is unlikely he will be able to safely bowl within the next week, which would therefore not allow him to have any further participation in the tour," said team physio Kevin Sims.

" We have to live with this if cricket schedules are going to be packed this way. You need 18 players of valid credentials to play a final eleven all the time "

"He will return to Australia where he will reviewed by Cricket Australia medical staff to ensure he is available for selection at the beginning of the Australian summer."

West Indies and Pakistan are due to play series against Australia, while India host Sri Lanka later this month.
