Hussey cool on captaincy ambition

Mike Hussey Batsman Mike Hussey has played down suggestions that he wants to become Australia's next skipper.

Hussey was named vice-captain to Ricky Ponting for the current one-day series in Malaysia, with regular number two Adam Gilchrist staying at home.

The 31-year-old led Australia in Monday's game against West Indies.

But he said: "I'm 100% behind Ricky and Adam as captain and vice-captain, and I can't really see that changing for the foreseeable future."

Hussey, who recently won 54% support when users of baggygreen.com were asked to vote for Australia's next skipper, marked his first taste of international captaincy with a superb 109 not out off 90 balls.

It was not enough to save his side from a three-wicket defeat, but despite the disappointment of the result, he enjoyed the extra challenge.

"I enjoyed trying to come up with new ideas to find a wicket, or how we were going to keep it tight.

"I'm lucky I had some very experienced cricketers around me to give me some help," he said.

Hussey was also able to call on Ponting for advice when the latter appointed himself drinks carrier for the team.

"A couple of times when he came on, I was desperate for some help. He's very calm and doesn't worry about many things," he added
