Graeme Swann has pledged to make the Champions Trophy trip to Pakistan if England decide to travel.
The tournament is set to take place next month despite serious security concerns following the recent political violence in the country.
"It is obviously tricky because you certainly worry about giving your place up and not winning it back," said the 29-year-old.
"Inside me I think I would not have a problem going."
Swann, who has played just 12 one-day internationals since making his England debut in January 2000, added: "In Sri Lanka last year there were bombs going off while we were there.
"But you did not feel threatened by it because you have got the security detail and the army give you escorts.
"I'd trust in them - but then your family is saying you must be crackers and your girlfriend is saying, 'I don't want you to go'.
"That's when you start thinking: hang on a minute."
Swann was named in England's provisional 30-man squad for the tournament when it was announced last month.
England were expected to reduce that squad to 15 this week, with their opening match of the tournament against Sri Lanka in Karachi just over a month away.

But the players seem likely to wait for the England and Wales Cricket Board to make a decision next week, with the International Cricket Council sending a delegation to the UK to try to calm the fears over security in Pakistan.
England skipper Kevin Pietersen last month admitted he had reservations about the tour.
Australia, South Africa and New Zealand have all voiced concerns over the trip.
Swann's fellow international hopeful and Notts team-mate Samit Patel also said he would be happy to travel.
"I'd be happy to go to Pakistan, that's for sure," said the 23-year-old Patel.
"When the decision is made to go I am sure security will not come into play - because at that point, they should already know that it is safe to go."
