Loye hits out after England snub

Mal Loye Lancashire batsman Mal Loye is furious with England's selectors after being overlooked for next month's World Twenty20 tournament in South Africa.

Loye played in the CB Series in Australia and then hit 231 runs in five games in the domestic Twenty20 Cup.

But after also missing the World Cup, he could quit the international scene.

"I am so angry about the situation that I am past caring. I will make a final decision in about a week," Loye, 34, told the Manchester Evening News.

The aggressive opener, who was playing provincial cricket in New Zealand at the time, was called up by England for the one-dayers in Australia after Michael Vaughan was injured.

"The selectors have promised me calls but never delivered them - I'm gutted"

It was a belated introduction to international cricket for a man who had scored prolifically in limited-overs cricket on the domestic scene.

He managed only 142 runs in his seven ODIs but believes he should have been treated better by chairman of selectors David Graveney.

"The man who I am talking about called me to say I was basically a fill-in player in Australia, and that was why I didn't go to the West Indies," he added.

"It just showed a complete lack of respect. I have kept it all in for 15 years until now.

"The selectors have promised me calls but never delivered them. I'm gutted."
