England have added off-spin all-rounder Jamie Dalrymple to their squad for the second Test against Pakistan with Andrew Flintoff set for surgery.
Dalrymple was England's second-highest scorer during the one-day series against Sri Lanka, with 202 runs in five innings, and took four wickets.
Andrew Strauss has been confirmed as captain for the rest of the series.
Fast bowler Sajid Mahmood looks likely to play on his home ground Old Trafford after Liam Plunkett injured his side.

Gloucestershire seamer Jon Lewis is again included as bowling cover, taking the size of the squad up to 14, with Plunkett's injury to be assessed in the next 48 hours.
Chairman of selectors David Graveney said of Plunkett: "Our medical staff haven't seen him but side injuries for bowlers are a bit of a 'no-no' at the best of times.
"Jamie Dalrymple performed impressively during the NatWest Series.
"His inclusion will give the captain and coach another option when they decide on the starting line-up for this Test match."
All-rounder Flintoff was ruled out of the whole series on Saturday to have surgery on his injured left ankle.

Writing in the Sunday Telegraph, Strauss called on his senior fast bowlers to fill the breach.
"In some ways being forced to play without [Flintoff] may in time reduce the reliance that we place on his performances," he said.
"Ian Bell showed that he is more than capable of filling Flintoff's boots with the bat in his hand, but extra pressure is put on our bowlers in his absence.
"The senior players, those who have experienced the rough and tumble of Test cricket for a while, will have to make up for our loss."
