Mitchell signs new Worcester deal

Daryl Mitchell

Opener Daryl Mitchell has signed a new three-year deal with Worcestershire keeping him at New Road until 2011.

The 24-year-old batsman is one of four players offered new deals by the newly- promoted Division Two runners-up.

Gareth Andrew, 24, signs an improved two-year deal, while fellow paceman Chris Whelan, 22, who also joined a year ago, has earned another 12 months.

Keeper Josh Knappett, 23, stays for another year, while a 12-month deal has been offered to teenager Mehraj Ahmed.

Fast bowler Richard Jones will work with the club during the winter months before a decision is made regarding a playing contract for next season.
