Worcestershire sign Aussie bowler

Nathan Bracken Worcestershire have completed the formalities to allow them to capture Australia swing bowler Nathan Bracken.

The 28-year-old, who played for Gloucestershire in 2003, is the second Australian to join the county this week following the signing of Phil Jaques.

Bracken is a member of the Australian one-day squad and appeared in all three matches against the World XI.

"Nathan topped Australia's national averages with 43 wickets at 18.79," said head coach Steve Rhodes.

"He is a left-arm opening bowler with a career economy rate in first-class cricket of 2.55 per over.

"That in itself reveals how much control he has and this will compliment our attack next season."

Last week, Bracken annoucned that he had agreed personal terms with the Second Division club.

He said: "I had agreed to go back to Gloucestershire this summer but in the end they decided to look elsewhere for an overseas player.

"The ball swings a lot in England and the wickets do a bit and any fast bowler is happy when the ball swings and seams."
