Martin out to get going for Bears

Chris Martin

Warwickshire's Chris Martin is finding it hard to settle at Edgbaston after a frustrating start to his Bears career.

The New Zealand fast bowler had to fly to Paris last week to sort out a problem over his work permit.

And he was kept in the pavilion on his debut against Glamorgan in Cardiff on Wednesday night when the Bears' Twenty20 Cup opener was halted by rain.

Martin now hopes to actually get on the pitch at Bristol on Friday night when the Bears play Gloucestershire.

Despite his false start, the Kiwi quickie is still tipping his new side to have an enjoyable Twenty20 Cup.

"On only my second day in Birmingham, I had to fly to Paris for my work permit," he told BBC Coventry and Warwickshire. "But I am glad I am in the set-up now. It is something I have been looking forward to.

"I know a few of the guys, who I've played against over the years, and they are quite a buoyant mob.

"I think they are going to enjoy their Twenty20 and I am hoping to be a big part of what they do in the next three weeks".
