Paceman Tudor returns to Surrey

Alex Tudor

Former England fast bowler Alex Tudor has rejoined Surrey on a one-year deal.

The experienced 31-year-old has earned his second permanent spell at the club after impressing during his short loan spell from Essex this summer.

Surrey managing director Gus Mackay told BBC London 94.9: "He's really committed to getting back in the club and being part of the new Surrey.

"It's exciting because he has that experience, he knows the club and can be a part in driving us forward."

Tudor had a previous spell at Surrey between 1995 and 2004, during which time he played in 10 Tests and three one-day internationals for England - famously scoring a match-winning 99 not out against New Zealand as a nightwatchman.

He then joined Essex but failed to hold down a regular place in the side, and also struggled with injuries.

"He's raring to go and I think he sees this as a new challenge, which is good for everyone," Mackay added.

"We're looking forward to working with him next summer and through this winter."
