Butcher confident after operation
Surrey captain Mark Butcher says he is confident he will soon be fully recovered from his knee injury after undergoing surgery last month.
Butcher, 35, told BBC London 94.9: "I'm pretty confident that I should be fit and ready for the next Championship game at Taunton [on 12 August].
"I've got to be a bit careful and come back when it's absolutely right."
Butcher's injury flared up during Surrey's County Championship match with Somerset at Whitgift in June.
The skipper was unable to field for Somerset's second innings and also required a runner when he took to the crease for the second time.
"With the side struggling and results going the wrong way I'd love to be able to be out there and do something about it.
"But having said that I'm not willing to get out there and play when I'm not ready because the chances are then I'll miss out the rest of the season."
"Obviously in terms of team selection, making sure everybody's staying positive, I still have a role to play there."
"The guys are just rolling their sleeves up and looking to get stuck in. If you do it often enough at some point it's going to turn around for you."
