Somerset and England cricketers Marcus Trescothick and Ian Blackwell kicked off the £15m project by helping to demolish some of the stands.

The work at Taunton will include building three new spectator stands, capable of holding 3,000 people, and apartments for the over 55s.

It is estimated the project will be completed by the middle of August.
