White takes on Somerset captaincy
Australian all-rounder Cameron White has been named Somerset skipper in the absence of injured Ian Blackwell.
Although only 22, White has captaincy experience with state side Victoria and also led Australia to victory at the 2002 Under-19 World Cup.
"I am very honoured to be asked to take on this job with Somerset," he told the club's official website.
"Obviously I'm sorry for Ian, who is a great guy, and I hope he gets himself fixed and back out on the park."
Blackwell suffered a shoulder injury during the Championship game against Leicestershire and needs an operation.
He is likely to be out for three months and will therefore miss the chance of playing for England in their one-day series against Sri Lanka.
