Andy Moles has agreed a new two-year contract with Cricket Scotland after failing to land the job of Director of Coaching with Warwickshire.
Moles, a former Warwickshire batsman, was on the short-list for the Edgbaston job but lost out to Mark Greatbatch.
He has therefore accepted the offer to remain in charge of the Scotland team beyond the 2007 World Cup.
"It will be fantastic to see the job through by going to the West Indies," the 44-year-old commented.
"I told the lads after last Sunday's game (against Surrey) that it might be my last with them.
"However, I told them I'd also be delighted if it turned out that I was staying, and that's the way I feel now.
"The Warwickshire job obviously appealed because of my ties there, but I would obviously have some regrets about leaving Scotland, especially after enjoying such a memorbale summer with a great group of players," the Herald newspaper quoted him as saying.
After a spell in charge of the Kenyan national team, Moles joined Scotland at the start of the year and guided them to victory at the ICC Trophy tournament, which secured qualification for the World Cup.
He will spend the next three months supervising an ICC Academy programme in Pretoria, South Africa, which will involve coaching 20 players from the five World Cup qualifiers, including eight members of the Scottish squad.
