Hussey ordered to rest by Aussies

David Hussey

Australian batsman David Hussey will not be returning to Nottinghamshire this summer.

He is to take a break following Australia's current tour to the West Indies, which he joined after appearing in the Indian Premier League.

Fellow Aussie Adam Voges will stay until mid-August, but the club are now seeking an overseas replacement for the final six weeks of the season.

"He'd almost certainly be a batsman," said director of cricket Mick Newell.

"David's situation has changed somewhat in that now he is centrally contracted by Australia.

"I have spoken to him personally and he would have liked to have spent some time with us, but it isn't going to be possible in the circumstances.

"He's contracted to us for next season as well and we're hopeful that we'll see him at some stage, but Adam has proved to be an excellent acquisition and we're pleased he'll have the chance to spend more time at Trent Bridge."

Hussey, the younger brother of fellow Australia Test cricketer Mike, has played for Notts since 2004 and has scored more than 5,000 runs for the club.
