Gidman signs Gloucestershire deal
Gloucestershire all-rounder Alex Gidman has signed a new three-year contract to extend his stay at Nevil Road.
Gidman, 27, had been linked with a move to Warwickshire but opted to link up with former coach John Bracewell.
He told BBC Radio Bristol said: "John returning was a massive factor. I believe he is the right man for my cricket in the next couple of years.
"The next couple of years will show if I can play for England - I'm confident he will bring the best out of me."
New Zealand supremo Bracewell will return to the county in April 2009.
And former England A captain Gidman is excited about the prospect of working with Bracewell once more.
"I look forward to reigniting that relationship and, at the same time, he is the best man for this cricket club," he added.
"It's been a testing few months. In the end, [the decision] wasn't that hard but there were certainly times where I seriously considered my future."
