Surrey target Gloucestershire ace

Alex Gidman

Surrey have become the latest county to express an interest in Gloucestershire vice-captain Alex Gidman.

The 26-year-old has already spoken to Warwickshire's director of cricket Ashley Giles.

Now Surrey have asked to speak to the all-rounder, who is currently considering his options for next year.

Gidman has acknowledged that the likely return of John Bracewell as Gloucestershire head coach in 2009 could tempt him to stay in Bristol.
