Glamorgan outlawing ticket touts

Glamorgan

Glamorgan are cracking down on ticket touts trying to make money out of the first Ashes Test next summer.

One tout has been banned from buying tickets for five years after six appeared for sale on the internet.

"We believe by setting the standard... we will help squeeze ticket touts out of business," said Simon Lee, the county's operations director.

He added: "We want to protect the genuine fans wishing to come to the game."

Glamorgan limited the number of tickets when they went on sale earlier this month to reduce bulk buying.

The county claimed to have received an astonishing 2.5 million hits on their website for the first batch of 6,000 tickets for the England-Australia clash at the Swalec Stadium next July.

And they are expecting a similar demand for their second general sale in January.

Glamorgan are urging fans who have purchased tickets for the five-day game, but who are now unable to attend, to contact the club's ticket office directly rather than placing the tickets on internet auction sites.
