Glam unveil operations director

Glamorgan

Glamorgan have appointed Simon Lee as their new operations director as they prepare to host the first Ashes Test next July.

Lee has left his role as executive director of Chepstow and Hereford racecourses to take up the post.

He has also had spells at the Celtic Manor resort, the Millennium Stadium, and Newport Rugby Club.

Chairman Paul Russell said: "We are now in the best possible position as we prepare for next summer."

The appointment is the latest change to the set-up at Glamorgan.

Chief executive Mike Fatkin parted company with the county earlier this month.

In a statement issued by Glamorgan, he stated there were "differences" of opinions in the way the club should go forward.

And days after Fatkin's exit, head groundsman of more than 20 years Len Smith retired, 10 months ahead of the Ashes Test.

International Cricket Council chief pitch consultant Andy Atkinson has been brought in as acting head groundsman at Glamorgan.
