Derbys eye keeper after Pipe blow
Derbyshire are expected to sign a wicketkeeper on loan after Jamie Pipe broke a finger during the County Championship match against Northants.
Pipe suffered the injury trying to catch Lance Klusener on the opening day of the match at Chesterfield.
Promising 18-year-old keeper Tom Poynton will deputise for Pipe for the rest of the game.
But with Pipe facing a lengthy spell on the sidelines, Derbyshire are expected to move for more experienced cover.
Although Pipe played on after treatment, X-rays revealed a compound fracture of the index finger on his left hand.
It is the second time this season that he has damaged the finger. He also broke it playing against Warwickshire in early May and was out of action for a month.
