(Sussex 2pts, Hants 0pts)

Match scorecard

Dimitri Mascarenhas

Sussex squeezed to a four-run win over Hampshire in Pro40 Division One, despite 76 from Dimitri Mascarenhas.

After Sussex racked up 224-9, Hampshire were in trouble at 71-5, with James Kirtley (4-38) the main destroyer.

Mascarenhas and Michael Carberry (55) then shared 63 for the sixth wicket, before Carberry fell to Mike Yardy.

Mascarenhas was then joined by Dominic Cork (35 not out) for a stand of 67, but when Mascarenhas was run out, Hampshire could only close on 220-8.

Hampshire captain Dimitri Mascarenhas told BBC Radio Solent:

"I thought 224 was a decent score but we shouldn't have had a problem in getting it.

"I told the lads we needed wickets in hand to win it but at 20-4 it wasn't looking good.

"We didn't deserve to win - they played the better cricket and had it not been for Dominic Cork near the end we wouldn't have got anywhere near."
