Redfern secures tie for Peakites

NATWEST PRO40 Division Two, Derby:
Derbyshire 213-6 tie with Yorkshire 213-7

Match scorecard

Dan Redfern's fine maiden one-day half century helped Derbyshire salvage a tie with promotion-chasing Yorkshire.

Derbyshire, chasing 214, had been sliding towards defeat at 128-6 with 10 overs remaining before Redfern helped secure the tie thanks to his 57.

But Redfern and Tom New played superbly to leave the home side needing nine from the last over of the match.

Redfern hit the first ball from Rana Naved for four and a leg bye off the last delivery denied Yorkshire victory.

In a match reduced to 34 overs due to rain, Yorkshire made 213-7 after Naved had smashed 74 from 58 balls.

Redfern and New added 85 in 10 overs to carry Derbyshire to the brink of a famous victory.

And when it looked like a surprise victory was in the offing, the hosts were only denied by a diving stop from wicketkeeper Simon Guy off the last ball.
