Tykes edge ahead against Surrey
County Championship D1, Headingley (day one, stumps): Yorkshire 50-0 v Surrey 204Match scorecard
Yorkshire paceman Deon Kruis grabbed his best figures for the county in their relegation match against Surrey.
Kruis helped his side get over the absence of Matthew Hoggard and Rana Naved-ul-Hasan through injury by taking 5-47 after Surrey won the toss.
The visitors only secured a batting point through some robust hitting by the last-wicket pair of Saqlain Mushtaq and Pedro Collins, who added 37.
Andrew Gale and Chris Taylor then saw Yorkshire to 50-0 by the end of play.
