Weather prevents play at Cardiff

COUNTY CHAMPIONSHIP DIVISION TWO
Venue: Swalec Stadium Dates: 11-14 July Start time: 1100 BST each day
Coverage: Coverage on BBC local radio and the BBC website
No play on Friday because of rain

Bad weather prevented any play on the opening day of the Glamorgan v Essex Championship game at Cardiff.

Umpires Allan Jones and John Steele carried out four inspections before calling a halt at 3.50pm because the bowler's run-ups were still damp.

Glamorgan opener Richard Grant is set to play his first Championship game of the season, replacing Matthew Wood.

Essex, meanwhile, may include Graham Napier in their XI following his impressive form in the Twenty20 Cup.
