Rain wipes out play at The Oval

County Championship Division One, The Oval:
Surrey v Sussex
No play Wednesday due to rain

Persistent rain meant no play was possible for the second day running in the County Championship match between Surrey and Sussex at The Oval.

After several inspections and an early lunch, the umpires gave up any hope of play for the day at 1415 BST.

With the first two days lost and more rain forecast for Thursday, it was frustrating for the home side as they battle to avoid relegation.

The delay was also unwelcome for Sussex who lead the table by just four points.
