Sussex and Surrey held up by rain

County Championship Division One, The Oval:
Surrey v Sussex

No play Tuesday due to rain

Sussex were left frustrated in their attempts to extend their division one county Championship lead as day one of their match at Surrey was rained off.

With drizzle falling steadily, a start of 1645 BST was originally set, but the rains returned to force the umpires to call it a day at 1715 BST.

Surrey will welcome Chris Schofield and Mark Butcher back into their side when the game finally gets underway.

Sussex will be without Matt Prior and Robin Martin-Jenkins (back).
