Gough efforts thwarted by weather
LV County Championship D1, Headingley Carnegie, day four (close): Yorkshire 307 & 2-1 drew with Surrey 229
Points: Yorkshire 10, Surrey 8
Darren Gough's second six-wicket haul of the season was not enough to prevent Yorkshire's game against Surrey ending in a draw because of persistent rain.
Surrey were dismissed for 229 to give Yorkshire maximum bowling bonus points.
The Division One leaders then reached 2-1 in their second innings before rain halted proceedings with 47 overs left.
When Surrey's Mark Ramprakash, who scored 59, reached 45 he became the first Division One player to score 1,000 first class runs this season.
"This is our fourth consecutive match badly affected by rain and it is very disappointing," said Yorkshire captain Gough.
606: DEBATE
"But had the lads known at the start of the season that we would be on top of the table after 10 games then I believe they would have settled for that.
"We were prepared to take risks to try and force a result against Surrey and we will go on doing so in the remaining games in an attempt to win the title.
"I think I have been bowling very well all season and it was nice to be able to get in 21 overs in the Surrey second innings and pick up some more wickets."
