Weather hinders Surrey recovery
County Championship D1, The Oval, day two (close): Hampshire 481-9 dec v Surrey 127-2
Bad light and rain hindered Hampshire and Surrey on day two at The Oval.
Hampshire resumed on 352-6, and Nic Pothas made 85 not out after sharing half-century stands with captain Shane Warne (48) and James Bruce (32).
Warne declared at 481-9, and Surrey soon lost Scott Newman and Jon Batty, who were both caught behind by Pothas.
Veterans Mark Ramprakash (71 not out) and Mark Butcher (49 not out) were interrupted by rain and bad light but had added 119 as Surrey reached 127-2.
Surrey began their innings 18 minutes before lunch, but only faced 37 overs as the conditions ensured a stop-start afternoon.
After Newman and Batty's dismissals left them 8-2, ex-England pair Ramprakash and Butcher steadied the ship, and their century partnership survived intact when Warne brought himself on for a three-over spell at the end of the day and extracted some sharp turn.
