Defiant Essex dent Surrey record

Twenty20 Cup, Chelmsford: Essex 175-7 (18.5 ovs) bt Surrey 174-4 (20 ovs)

Essex condemned Surrey to their first defeat in the South Division with a three-wicket triumph at Chelmsford.

Mark Ramprakash fired three sixes in 74 from 48 balls, sharing 103 in 11 overs with James Benning (69), who also hit three sixes as Surrey posted 174-4.

But James Foster smashed five fours and reached his half century with a six.

Former England one-day skipper Adam Hollioake hit three fours and a six in 21 from 12 balls against his old club and Graham Napier won it with a four.
