Glamorgan slump to heavy defeat
County Championship Division Two, Colwyn Bay: Worcestershire 460 & 382-5 dec bt Glamorgan 340 & 191 by 311 runs
Points: Worcestershire 22, Glamorgan 6
Matt Mason snared four wickets and Roger Sillence three as Worcestershire wrapped up an impressive 311-run win.
Most of the hard work had been done by the visitors before the final day, setting Glamorgan 503 to win.
And the hosts never looked like hitting that target, despite Ryan Watkins' 38 and an unbeaten 44 from Robert Croft.
In their attempt to see out the day, the hosts' staid approach saw wickets fall regularly and they were skittled out for 191, 40 minutes before tea.
The comprehensive win strengthens Worcestershire's hopes of promotion, and came on the back of some fine seam bowling from Mason.
Mason got the ball rolling for the visitors, taking 4-56 in an unchanged spell of 13 overs before lunch, and the hosts never recovered.
Wicket-to-wicket bowling was the order of the day for Worcestershire, with two lbws, one bowled and four catches for wicket-keeper Steven Davies.
Sillence helped wrap things up to end with fine figures of 3-9 from 3.4 overs, while Nadeem Malik also played his part in the win, taking 2-43.
Zaheer Khan took the other wicket to fall at a cost of 68 runs from 16 overs.
