Surrey run surge overwhelms Glos
Twenty20 Cup quarter-final, Bristol: Surrey 224-5 (20) bt Glos 144 (18.5 ovs) by 80 runs
Surrey moved through to finals day for the fourth successive year with an 80-win over Gloucestershire.
They were surprisingly asked to bat and after Ali Brown and Mark Butcher fell cheaply, Mark Ramprakash shared 139 with Rikki Clarke in a total of 224-5.
Ramprakash's 85 came from only 50 balls and contained 10 fours and three sixes, while Clarke smashed five fours and five sixes in an unbeaten 79 from 42.
Ian Harvey hit four fours early in the Glos reply but they crumbled for 144.
Ramprakash looked forward with confidence to finals day, comprising both semi-finals and final, at Trent Bridge on 12 August.
"We're playing well," he said. "There is lots of depth to the batting and the bowling is good, Anil Kumble has come into the ranks and is with us for the rest of the summer, things are looking good."
