Surrey continue victorious start

James Benning helped Surrey make it two wins out of two in the Twenty20 Cup by starring against Kent at The Oval.

Benning hammered 88 off 54 balls and Mark Ramprakash crashed four sixes in his 58 off 29 as Surrey made 198-6.

Kent made a decent enough start with Darren Stevens (31) putting on 40 with Neil Dexter but spinners Nayan Doshi and Ian Salisbury tied them down.

Doshi finished with 3-10 and Salisbury 2-6 as the visitors were bundled out for 91 with more than eight overs left.

The last seven wickets fell for just 18 runs in four overs to consign Kent to defeat after their opening-night win over Essex.

Benning and Ramprakash gave Surrey a solid platform with their 10-over stand and at one stage Somerset's world record of 250 was in sight.

But Kent applied the brakes largely thanks to Min Patel, whose four overs cost 25 runs, and James Tredwell, who took two wickets for 31, including that of Ramprakash.
