Stunning Brown gets Surrey home

County Championship D2, Bath, day three: Surrey 266 & 356-6 beat Somerset 342 & 276 by five wickets
Points: Surrey 19, Somerset 6

A remarkable century from Ali Brown powered Surrey to their fifth win in Division Two this season as Somerset's hearts were broken at Bath.

Surrey were set 353 to win after the hosts were bowled out for 276 on day three and at 129-4 the visitors seemed to be sliding towards defeat.

Then, out of the blue came a stand of 189 between Brown and Rikki Clarke, who slammed 16 boundaries in his 77.

Brown stayed on to finish on a storming 126 not out off just 121 balls.

His innings featured 23 fours and a six as Surrey ended on 356-6, winning by four wickets.

Somerset had looked to be in control following three Charl Willoughy wickets.

But the other bowlers - eight were used in all - were unable to build on his success.
