Surrey overcome Foxes rearguard

County Championship D2, Leicester: Surrey 370 & 287-7 dec beat Leicestershire 244 & 314 by 99 runs
Points: Surrey 21, Leicestershire 4

Darren Maddy hit a gritty 97 and Leicestershire's last wicket added 34 but could not avoid a 99-run defeat to Surrey at Grace Road.

The Foxes, 126 behind on first innings and were chasing an unlikely 414, hung on into the evening thanks to Paul Nixon (31no) and Mohammad Asif (21).

Resuming on 74-1, Leicestershire lost HD Ackerman for 55 and Maddy fell to James Ormond after facing 198 balls.

Former Fox Ormond and Rikki Clarke took three wickets each for the visitors.
