Webster named player of the year

Cricket

Ollie Webster was named the Manx Independent Player of the Year at the Island's Annual Dinner on Friday.

The Ramsey and Isle of Man opener also received the best batsmen award after a great season in which he amassed 605 runs at an average of 38.

Webster's play was a major factor in Ramsey's triumphant year in which they won both the Standard Bank Premiership and also the Tinker Cup.

Ramsey skipper Rob Webber was on hand to collect both trophies on the night.

Other honours for the club included Chris McConnell taking the best bowler cup and Webber accepting the best wicketkeeper award from ex-England stumper Warren Hegg.

Castletown also had a good evening with Mark Williams taking best all-rounder and Christian Steriopulos being named best fielder.

Cronkbourne's youth policy appears to be paying off with Max Stokoe named best under-21 player.
